Joanne Shaw Taylor
The Gibson Interview: Joanne Shaw Taylor
With an artform as matured and rich as the blues, we all need a new blues guitar hero. Scrub that: make it blues heroine. The U.K's Joanne Shaw Taylor deserves your attention, whatever your gender, as she blends gritty vocals, sublime guitar skills and ever-growing songwriting savvy.
The Dirty Truth (out September 22, 2014) is Joanne Shaw Taylor's fourth and strongest album to date.
Twenty-eight-year-old JST has her own style, no doubt, but she also taps into the wealth of guitar music that she grew up on – Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert Collins, Led Zeppelin, Paul Kossoff, Bonnie Raitt and many more.
Gibson.com spoke to Joanne in London about new album The Dirty Truth, her guitar style and influences, being a woman in a bluesman's world and much more...

Ryan Bingham - Live
If you have ever watched the TV show "The Bridge" you may have wonder who was singing the haunting intro song.
The artist is Ryan Bingham.
"I grew up listening pretty much only to the older stuff," says the 25-year-old. "My family had a ranch between Hobbs and Carlsbad, and on the side my uncle had a bar called The Halfway Bar, and I'd listen to all these old records from the 60s and 70s on the jukebox there. I lived with him for a while when I was little, and all he did was listen to those old records -- Bob Dylan, Bob Wills, Marshall Tucker. I never related to anything that was on the radio when I was a kid back in the '90s."

Kenny Vaughan - Live
Kenny Vaughan - Live
Born in Oklahoma, raised in Denver, Kenny Vaughan's earliest memories of music are his father's jazz record collection:
"My dad listened to Jimmy Smith, Mose Allison, Count Basie, Woody
Herman, Miles Davis, Tony Mottola, and used to take me to hear Johnny
Smith play at Shaner's in Denver. My neighbor, Charles Sawtelle,
listened to Flatt and Scruggs and played Salty Dog on his Martin guitar
for me. I knew then and there that I wanted to do that! I got my first
electric guitar when I was twelve. The first thing I played was ‘Folsom
Prison Blues’. My first band played Stones, surf, '60's garage punk,
and Memphis soul. I saw the Stones, Jimi Hendrix, The Cream, Howlin'
Wolf, Captain Beefheart, Buck Owens and The Buckaroos, The Dead, The
Doors, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, Johnny Winter, John Mayall, and Led
Zep's first stateside gig, all before I was sixteen!"More Bio

Dismemberment Plan - Live
~Timebomb
well i, i am a time bomb and i, i lay forgotten at the bottom of your heart...
i'm fine, ticking away the hours to blow your world apart
i, i am a poison and i, i am still coursing through your bloodstream like
a ghost, like wine, gathering vintage for the day i hurt the most
i, i am a land mine and i, i lay on the soil burned out by battles you thought
you'd won, i've got time... to wait for the footsteps.. of a memory that's on
the run...yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
well i, i am a tar pit and i, i swell like a living thing all at the slightest
touch.. a black grime, yeah, swallowing everything.. a cold and timeless clutch
i, well i am a trip wire, and i, i'm stretching across the road you're
barreling down tonight...a thinish twine, waiting to be released right beyond
your sight
i, well i am a fault line and i, i'm pulling apart the ground that lay beneath
your newest seed.. so fine, moving in inches now a caution you won't know, you
don't know, well i've got time
well i, i am a time bomb i only live in that one moment in which you die... its
not right, its not what i wanted then but you know and i know there's no going
back
i, i am a lost soul and i, i send out a sickened light for anyone to see... a
cry for help, yeah, a warning to stay away... the burning... the blinding...
the reaching in darkness...why, yeah, yeah
