51 States in 51 Days
Melvins Tour Diary from 2012
(start at the bottom of page )
"We are probably the only band in the world to get picked up in a stripper booze wagon with no strippers and no booze. That's okay though, I don't drink and I hate strippers. Why would anyone be interested in that look-but-don't-touch horseshit? Strippers are like training wheels for idiots who end up blowing cash screwing prostitutes….Cool."

Stone Angel - Stone Angel {1975}

 Stone Angel - Stone Angel

Another lost band from the acid folk era of the progressive rock period. They are truly acid. This band used to be Midwinter. The songs are all quiet with many interesting instruments. The lyrics are all stories from their native birth place in east Anglia. The opener “The bells of Dunwich” is a beautiful song that set the atmosphere. “The Skater” move in the same shoes as its former. The third song is a melody from old times. “Traveler’s song” is a typical acid folk – a bit faster than before. “Black sailed Traders” has a great melody. “Stone Angel” is a brilliant piece. It is quiet and speedy at the same time. A real acid. Galliard has a taste of king’s music from old times. “The gay Goshwak” is again fast paced with female vocals. It’s the longest song – a little more than 7 minutes.”Black dog” is beautiful combining female and male vocals.”Holy Rood of Bromholm” is a great song to end the journey. All in all, it has a unique atmosphere almost impossible to find. A bit of Incredible string band, a bit of slow Comus, and a lot of Stone Angel .

Smokehouse - Edge of the Swamp - 1998

Smokehouse - Edge Of The Swamp - 1998
Studio Recordings

Smokehouse proves the group has moved far forward from the point it started although source of inspiration for them still lies in Louisiana. Anthony (Packrat) Thompson's vocal is deep and harmonica sounds soulful and band never leaves borders, they keep staying on the Edge Of The Swamp. While every composition has to say something musically on its own, particular attention should be given to "Hoodoo Lover", "Credit Card Blues", "Bisquit Roller" and "95 South (The High Sheriff From Hell)".

 Track List:
1 - them jelly blues
2 - creepin blues
3 - son of a king

The Creepshow - They All Fall Down - 2010

The Creepshow - They All Fall Down - 2010

For the past 8 years The Creepshow have been smashing the whole world in the face with their brutaltastic mélange of punk, country, psychobilly and good old fashioned rock n’ roll. They’ve toured the world, sold a metric shit-ton of records and blown the faces off a ga-zillion fans…But the road to punkrock infamy hasn’t all been paved with rainbows, unicorns and gum drops. Over the years, the band has been fraught with innumerable hardships along the way. From robberies and wrecks to line-up changes and countless personal obstacles, this band has lived through it all. And you know what? Instead of crying in their beers and whining like assholes, they got more strongerer, more awesomer, more determinated and a whole hell of a lot angrier.

Track List:
01. The sermon III
02. Get what's coming
03. Someday
04. They all fall down
05. Last chance
06. Sleep tight
07. Dusk 'til dawn
08. Keep dreaming
09. Hellbound
10. Going down
11. Road to nowhere

The Ophelias - Self Titled First LP 1987

A Special Thanks to Ruben at  http://fivegunswest.blogspot.com

The Ophelias - Self Titled First LP 1987

The Ophelias were a San Francisco based band led by multi-instrumentalist and singer Leslie Medford. Pulling influences from all over the place, with a special nod to prog rock and the works of Peter Hammill, The Ophelias were one of the more refreshing and original bands around the San Francisco Bay Area at the time.

"I moved back to San Francisco around August of 1984. I immediately started playing with a group called 'Jimmy Baker', named after the first person to be electrocuted to death by electricity. We played the Mabuhay Gardens, The Farm, and all the other San Francisco dives to little fanfare and little money."....

Siouxsie and the Banshees - B Sides

*** Siouxsie and the Banshees - Downside Up {B-Sides}***
{Out of Print}
Having finally split two years ago after a difficult comeback tour, The Banshees left a formidable body of work.  Through their B-sides, Downside Up charts an alternative history of one of Britain's most cherished groups.  From the start they proved to be a far more dynamic proposition than their post-punk and goth peers and, especially during their early-'80s heyday, always relished the chance to try something new for a B-side.

Their first 'Voices', the haunting flip to 1978's debut single, 'Hong Kong Garden', sets an impressive standard, swiftly followed by a thrash through '20th Century Boy'.  The golden period, when drummer Budgie and ex-Magazine guitarist John McGeoch joined founders Siouxsie and ever-supple bassist Steve Severin, produced the tribal 'Congo Conga' and the spectral 'Cannibal Roses'.  Moonlighting from The Cure, and a good friend of Severin's, Robert Smith's brief stint as a Banshee resulted in enjoyably psychedelic studio doodles like 'There's A Planet In My Kitchen'.

Elsewhere, there are covers of 'All Tomorrow's Parties' and Ben E. King's 'Supernatural Thing', cut-up pop like 'Catwalk', and, for the first time on CD, 1984's 'The Thorn EP', for which the Banshees re-recorded B-sides 'Voices' and 'Red Over White' with a string quartet.  An exhaustive and fascinating collection from an astonishing group.
~Piers Martin

Siouxsie Sioux first came to our attention in 1976 as a Sex Pistols acolyte who was standing behind the band during the notorious interview with Bill Grundy on the Today programme.  Yet with hindsight, her work doesn't seem to belong to punk at all.  Her debut album didn't appear until 1978, by which time untutored three chord thrashing was beginning to appear passé.  Instead, with the Banshees she helped invent a form of post-punk discord full of daring rhythmic and sonic experimentation that was as influential as it is underrated.

Downside Up features 55 tracks spread across four discs, some of which have not previously appeared on CD.  The result is a collection that constitutes an alternative history far more revealing than a greatest hits package, for here is a group that never filled b-sides with inferior throwaway tracks.  Rather they saw them as an outlet for some their most radical and challenging work.

Standouts include the spiky Drop Dead/Celebration, the sinister Eve White/Eve Black and the chopped up industrial funk of Tattoo, tracks that prove that the Banshees stand proudly alongside PIL, Gang Of Four and The Fall as the most audacious and uncompromising musical adventurers of the post-punk era.

Ryan Bingham - Live

If you have ever watched the TV show "The Bridge" you may have wonder who was singing the haunting intro song.
The artist is Ryan Bingham.

"I grew up listening pretty much only to the older stuff," says the 25-year-old. "My family had a ranch between Hobbs and Carlsbad, and on the side my uncle had a bar called The Halfway Bar, and I'd listen to all these old records from the 60s and 70s on the jukebox there. I lived with him for a while when I was little, and all he did was listen to those old records -- Bob Dylan, Bob Wills, Marshall Tucker. I never related to anything that was on the radio when I was a kid back in the '90s."
